    How many killing fields will we sow before
    we’re held accountable for the feast?

    Speaking in tongues we defend our collective
    amens, finger the mirror and pretend

    grasping, twisted in last attempted flight
    seeking through the darkness for a light
    gently falling still without breath
    and she alone with

    Estate, good-fame,
    Plans, credit and the Muse,
    Nothing refuse.

    'T is a brave master;
    Let it have scope:
    Follow it utterly,
    Hope beyond hope:
    High and more high
    It dives into noon,
    With wing unspent,
    Untold intent;
    But it is a god,
    Knows its own ...
