  1. A change is as good as a rest...

by , 12-16-2009 at 05:49 PM (Reflections on the puddle of life)
    or so they say

It's been a pretty chaotic time for me recently. There's been quite a bit of change in my life. Which is good; I'm okay with change. I've realised a few things too, which I often do. One, that work has swallowed a lot of my year this year and as a result my writing has suffered. Two, that I've become more placid, less easily stressed, or perhaps less concerned about getting things right. Next year I hope to build on that, build more balance into my life, put myself ...

  2. moving closer to earth

by , 12-16-2009 at 05:00 PM (day in a life)
I went to work today. I may have said this a few times before but I work in a home for the elderly while I'm finishing school, it's really hard and heavy work, so many sick people. well I was very lucky today (or not) for I was in the most difficult part of the place and with a woman who is a workaholic... the only thing I ate yesterday was popcorn so my energy was not the best it can be. around 9 I was feeling dizzy and just needed to eat a little to get some strength and she grabbed my arm and ...

  3. Poetry first thing in the morning

    by , 12-16-2009 at 11:25 AM (Nostalgia)

Fighting a hopeless war with all the hope in the world,
Greeting a lost friend with warmth,
And resting in a field of wildflowers ...

  4. Mute

by , 12-16-2009 at 02:40 AM (A Mirror Floating in Water)
Only three films in my life have rendered me so speechless that I felt as if I had somehow transcended all thought. 2001: A Space Odyssey, Apocolaypse Now and Persona. The latter I have just finished watching and I must say that I am as mute as the women in it. This film along with 8 1/2 the above mentioned and a few others, is the all-everything of cinema; it is infinite. 10/10

This could hardly be called a review, it has almost said nothing about the film. I don't know, ...

  5. My Dad

by , 12-16-2009 at 01:11 AM (the ocean always dreamed blue dreams)
My dad died Saturday. The world seems a darker place without him

He was a quiet man, but he made his presence felt in so many ways. I remember running to hug him after work and the smell of his suit and he held us close. I remember helping him bring in logs for the fire and the careful way he arranged the them. I remember the food he made, the chili, the chicken noodle soup and the best potato salad I ever ate. I remember helping him wash the car-which was really just an excuse to ...
