I submitted this poem for the form poetry contest. The objective was to

write a triad consisting of three or four 3-line stanzas OR three 4-line stanzas connecting three images, thoughts, or items associated with a fresh start.

Mountain Sun

At the onset of

...

Blood Bonds

I am all roots
(dirty fingers)
which dig into the Earth
{reverberating}
and I feel fingers
sunk into flesh
while watching for founts of blood,
(little pin pricks)
succumbed to the chocking vine
which climbs upon my walls,
but one becomes a fixture-
within time
hold-fast
watching the parched sun
as shadows pass
waiting for rain that evaporates,
sticky ...

Affinity for the insane causes me to hurt my brain
over and over it blows my mind
At least I'm not completely blind
The eyes you see can see you too
I would love to meet you
Even though you're not what I see
I only see the person I want you to be.

. . . .and if not, would they be okay if one just plays softly in the background?

The reason I ask this pertains to a dilemma that my wife and I are going through regarding the education and cultural identity of our children.

The Context of the Issue
You see, we're really thinking about sending our daughter to a Catholic elementary because the local public schools here are getting worse due to a poor state funding structure and (sorry, but it's true) an overall ...
