    My entry in the current Picture Poetry Contest. I think I did a pretty good job with this, and the thing I really like is that while it refers in spirit to the picture it does not depend upon it to be understood or appreciated.

    the spring called their names
    and poor mute things,
    they listened and obeyed
    travellers on a weary road
    they thought at first that they longed only for a drink
    but then they heard

  2. Sent to Coventry

    The phrase "sent to Coventry" means that no-one is taling to you at the moment. It is thought that the phrase originated during the English Civil War, in the 1640s, when Royalist soldiers were being held in the city. Apparently they would be allowed to wander through the streets, but found that the residents refused to speak to them.

  4. why biology why?!

    I'm pretty sure I failed biology. I took the test yesterday and about 20 minuets in a few students gave up and left without finishing. it was very difficult. I was able to answer all questions but one but I think I was just babbling in some of them hoping to score a few points. I studied so hard for it and I felt like I knew alot about the subject but I'm petty sure it didn't go well enough.

    I have politics and german next week and then I'm done for the semester. I think my next semester ...

  5. Catherine Wheel

    The Catherine Wheel was a method of torture and punishment in the Middle Ages.

    It was named so becasue according to ledgend St. Catherine of Alexandria was executed upon the device which is also known as a Breaking Wheel.
