I've been exploring the French Baroque for a while lately... and made a number of marvelous discoveries. I am especially struck by the grand orchestration of the operatic and choral works... including dramatic drums and brass. Of course, this was the era of Louis XIV, le Roi Soleil... and the composers working in Paris were working for the most grandiose court in the whole of Europe. Bach, by comparison, was forced to compose and orchestrate with the limited resources of the largely amateur orchestra ...

Good grief. It's been a hell of a journey. We just got internet connection a few hours ago. The thirty something hour trip was an adventure. We left on Saturday and we got to our destination Monday, and there were no hotel room stop overs, just travel and layover. Not sure I have the energy to talk about it. Well, we couldn't get any plant food for Mi-chan. We could've got indoor plant food but Mi-chan isn't a normal indoor plant, it's a bonsai so do they require different food. We're planning to visit a nearby hive of garden centers who might have appropriate food for bonsais.
In other news, I hurt my wrist a few days ago. Nothing serious, just strained it a bit I think, too much time on the PC and making pieces for modular origami doesn't help, that puts considerable strain on it. I spent 2-3 ...
