    Well I just found out that I will be going to college this fall! I thought I'd be excited but I am more nervous than that. I am looking forward to it but I am very nervous about it too.

    In my quest to find a bit of equilibrium, I had a bit of a chilled out night last night and instead of rushing around like a crazy person, filling my time with tasks or pointless internet browsing (I do too much of that) I let time fill me. And it was good. I had a bath, and lay in the bath with the window open, listening to the rain, which is beautiful, and it got me to thinking about the things that I like and fill me with peace.   3. Book Review: The Song of Hiawatha by H. W. Longfellow

    I remember my grandmother reciting excepts from the the New England "fireside poets": Whittier, Bryant, Lowell and Longfellow. And I remembered reading some of their works in high school. Later, when I studied literature in graduate school in the late '90s, I was told that scholarly focus on those poets had faded and that, essentially, they were only novelties to skim on the way to the more sophisticated slave narratives and, later, to Whitman and Dickinson.

  4. Classic!

    And so it begins! That's one of the best things about having a nearly 3 year old granddaughter, rediscovering classics like The Tale Of Peter Rabbit. Seeing her engrossed and fascinated, feeling the thrill once more through her eyes. Has there ever been a more scary literary villian than Mr McGregor?

  5. I am Berserker

    Part of a photo project I am working on, doing a series of the Seven Sins with myself representing each of the sins.

    This is Wrath, my interpretation drawing from the legend of berserkers in the Celtic and Viking tribes, in which it was believed in the heat of battle they would posses supernatural strength, feeling no pain, becoming invincible with the power to tear a man apart with their bare hands.
