  1. Bird Spotting

Well I was sitting down watching a tv and writing a poem when I could see the silluettes of the birds through the blinds darting back and forth outside around the birdfeeder, and I decided to get up and have a look, I always enjoy watching the birds, and though we usually get the usual now and then a more unique visitor will appear. So at first I could see the more common finches and sparrows but then I was befiefly visited by a flock of beautiful red-winged blackbirds.

  5. Expressing the Inexpressible: Rap music column

To my surprise, my library skills class at Chabot College had more than just books to it. It was about learning library skills through researching themes in rap and hip hop music. I was shocked and a bit disappointed; for me the library means Tolkien, Byron, Yeats and other classics. Rap was not anywhere in the picture.
At the first class, we watched the documentary Beyond Beats and Rhymes by African-American filmmaker Byron Hurt. Analyzing rap videos, the filmmaker realized that they showed
