  1. Certamen in Gainesville

Seven thirty in the morning-- seven thirty. What was I doing there? No matter how much I enjoyed Certamen, nothing was worth getting up at six on a Saturday and being here at Leon High School at seven thirty in the morning. Nothing.
"I'm sleeping on the bus," I shamelessly announced.
"No, you're not," Mr. Bebergal said, resolute. Besides, Dallas, I was the only one who could challenge him when he wore that look.
"Yes. I am. I studied a grand total of

  2. Me, my thoughts, and I

by , 03-16-2008 at 04:42 PM (A Little Bit of Everything)
I must say what goes on in my mind during the day is hardly understandable. I have strong beliefs, and stronger feelings yet together it makes a confusing place in my brain. The best way I can explain it is that my mind is like a never-ending word association game. My hypertension was through the roof, because I forgot to bring my medication. Anyways, I thought I was going to die, and wanted ...

I've been generally steeping myself in music in the last week or so, and been thinking a lot about the power of music to restore us, mind body and soul. Last Saturday was my Grandmother's memorial service, and I wasn't able to make it because I'm out in Chicago, though I did type up the Eulogy which my mom read out by proxy for me. Though I wasn't there, I still used it as a day to remember her life and mark ...

  5. Preface

    Preface

    AMBER
John was perfect. His face was achingly and unapologetically beautiful. God's angels carved it; he had a mouth that was bow-like in structure, high, gentle cheekbones, bronze skin, and the most beautiful eyes you've ever seen. His eyes were mostly blue, but they had shards of every color the eye could posses, and then there was the strangest patch on his right eye that was strictly shades of brown and yellow. His eyes could easily be compared to a fire; they were warm,
