  1. Tears for a Clown

Within a span of two weeks, American broadcasting lost one of its premier sportscasters, a top-notch political analyst, interviewer, and moderator, and one of it's best clowns. Jim McKay was an icon of my childhood growing up watching sports on American television. He'd travel the world to bring some of the more obscure sports into our home. Ski jumping, cliff diving, the Olympics. Back when I cared about the Olympics, I stayed up into the night with Jim in 1972 as he covered the horrific events ...

  2. Anza is deeply depressed

No, it is not David. There's a little old woman who lives across the street from us by the name of Miss Perry-- "Miss" because her husband died years ago. Every time I think about her, or see her checking the mail and such in her forlorn, outdated clothes something inside of me weeps. The thing is that it's so much worse when I don't see her. You see, every holiday there appears a card or gift on our front steps like clockwork. Miss Perry delivers flowers, too, when her confederate roses ...

by , 06-25-2008 at 02:33 PM (A Ramble through Smilie Land)
Well now am 1/4 of the way through The art of Worldly wisdom, that is I ended up buying the book and reading that way although I am still reading them via subscription in my emails.
Must say though the book is a bit of a disappointment I misunderstood what it was I was buying and I thought I was getting a copy that was printed in such a way that there was only 1-2 maxims per page and Id thus have room for personal comments all around.
Sadly I missed the fact that it was a pocket book ...

  5. How Am I Feeling Today?

I just posted this in the How Are You Feeling Today thread. I might as well put it my blog. This is a major shock and a significant event in my life and I want to keep a record of it.

    How Are You Feeling Today?
Shaken, very shaken. Angry. Disheartened. Someone at work collapsed at his desk this morning and a couple of us were trying to help him while the ambulance came. He was unconscious, he had a pulse, he was breathing but breathing erraticaly, and his eyes would open
