The Weight Of Love

The Weight Of Love

Caught unexpectedly
a surmounting fear
overwhelms me.

Faced with the subliminal
it feels like standing
on the edge of a cliff
looking out into the vastness
far below.

A paralysis which grips
upon my heart
and won't
let go.

It crashes down upon me
like the force of ocean waves
rolls through my body
as an earthquake.

It is the vast unknown
thrust into the impossibility
which crushes like a pythons
deadly grip.

And yet
only sweetness follows
not the release of death
but the promise of love
never imagined
that leaves me gasping
for air.
