Coolest Birthday Ever!

Today I had the most awesome birthday ever!!!
At the de Young Museum in San Francisco they currently have a special King Tut exhibition, I am not sure when it first opened there, but it is going to be ending on March 28th, well by the grace of the gods, it just so happened that today Target was sponsoring a special event in which both general admission to the de Young and tickets to the King Tut exhibition were all free. So I got to spend my birthday in a museum.
The King Tut exhibition was absolutely mind boggling, it was the most breathtaking and astonishing things to say, and an incredible opportunity.
For one thing, it is completely unbelievable how pristine some of these ancient, ancient artifacts are, they were 3000 years old before they were ever even discovered, and yet, many of the objects look as if you could walk into the store and buy them brand new today. The colors are still amazingly vivid and vibrant.
In addition was the absolutely awe striking, intricate detail of the craftsman work upon these objects, there were items in which every inch was decorated, painted, etches, carved, and some of it was so minute and the smallest of details. There were these particular figures, of which they only showed a handful in the museum but all together there were 413 discovered in the tomb, and to think that in those days, each single one had to have been made by hand.
The other thing that is really quite amazing to think about, is the fact that no one would even really know that much, or take any particular interest in King Tut if it were not for this remarkable discovery of his tomb.
I have to say looking at all of these amazing artifacts which had been preserved so well over time it really made me think, how the Egyptians were so concerned with concepts of immortality, the afterlife, living on past death, reincarnation, and well in a way they have archived their desire, to think today here we are still remembering them, talking about them, still in awe of what they have accomplished. They have immortalized themselves even in ways they could never have imagined at the time.
And I got a bunch of little King Tut souvenirs, which I didn't have to pay for sense it was my Birthday, and then after the museum I went to the Hard Rock to eat, because I love the Hard Rock cafe.
