Just another day:)

Today turned out to be quite a lovely day. I managed to double the amount of sewing I had completed on my daughter's quilt. This was quite good since I haven't been able to sew in a month or so. If I can keep working I'll have the top finished in a few weeks or so. Then comes the hard part of actually pinning and quilting the whole thing. Since I'm planning to do butterflies and dragonflies on the top this will take quite a bit of time. I also have the added time of drawing out a simple enough dragonfly and butterfly that I can use as a template.

I've also spent the day running things through my head for Jump Awry. I am set now on changing the writing to the third person. There is so much more that I can show of the world in my head if I write that way. I'm planning to set some time aside tomorrow, or it may have to wait until next weekend, to just sit and write out the details of the world. I know one setting is going to be a planet that is entirely covered in a single city, but I need to detail the other surrounding area more. I also need to detail some of the other locations I wish to use. The sooner I have all of this and the character details worked out the sooner I can sit to write more. Right now I'm worried about the details so I am not making contradictory statements when I sit to really start writing my tale.

Well, I'm off for the night. It has been a good day so I figure that I'm going to end it with a nice cup of tea and then I'm to bed for the night. Tomorrow is another early start since both kids are up by 7 or so. Not too big of a deal, but I've been staying up entirely too late since my husband has been working 3rd shift. Luckily he will go back to days this week and life can get back to normal.

Good luck. I have the same problem with Bastat (using 1st person is too problematic) and need to revise also. It's a formidable task. So, do you plan/map out your story beforehand? I'm a purely spontaneous, intuitive writer. Daydreams are the substance of my work/I never plan beforehand. Thanks for sharing - C

I don't do a lot of before planning. I write out the character as it comes, physical description and such. I also write out detailed settings as I progress through a story. This way I don't say a character has emerald green eyes in one scene and the say they are hazel in another because I forgot. Other than that there isn't much I do to plan. If I outline the story it takes away from writing for me. I like having the action be a surprise for me when I am writing just as it can be a surprise for the reader. The only bad part is sometimes I write into a corner and kill my main character. That normally means I have to backtrack and start over at the turning point that led down that path. An adventure story where your character dies in the middle don't work out too well.

hey, yeah, I've realized that I prefer third-person books. Seems easier.
