I hate forums that refuse to allow you to delete your account, and will not remove your account for you at your request.

While I have no intentions of leaving litnet in the near or distant future...

There is is this other forum, that use to be a poetry forum board when I first signed on with it way back when I was still in high school but at some point in time the owner of the forum decided to completely rehaul and basically lost his personal interest in the poetry aspect of the forum and decided he wanted to create something which focused more upon story writing and interactive writing.

Though I was disappointed and had to try and track down a new place for my poetry I had for the time stayed with the forum because it still offered some interesting and entertaining things, well in the course of its history the forum had reinvented itself three or four different times and I had began visiting it less and less.

In part because I was growing more preoccupied with other things and in part because the nature of the forum board just no longer really provided what I was looking for or much that I felt that was of personal interest to me and the few aspects that did still hold some interest, I had less and less time to activity participate in.

Well of the years I had pretty much just all but forgotten about my account there and let it sit dormant when as of recently I began getting these e-mails alerting me of new PM's that I was getting on my account on the forum, but they were all spam so to say the least it was growing increasingly irritating, especially when I would receive 2 or 3 notifications for spammed PM's from a forum I have not even visited in some years.

Finally I logged onto my account and sent a PM to the admin of the site requesting that my account be deleted because I haven't been an active member on it for years, but now I keep getting this spam and so I see no reason to keep the account open when I don't actually use it any more.

Well about a week has passed, and it seems my request still went ignored since I have thus far still continued to get the spam messages and the admin whom I counted it, never even responded to my request.

So for the time being all I could do was change my e-mail settings so I won't get any more e-mail notifications from that forum.

But I hate the fact that many forums make it so difficult for members to have control over their own account and do not grant them the ability to decide to leave any time they wish to.

That is one thing I don't like about signing up for forums, is that if you decide you don't really like it or it is not for you, often you will find yourself stuck there.
