What is going on in the world?

I was all set to watch The French Lieutenant's woman this week, as ever since I have started using netflix I have become obsessed with wanting to watch the movies which have been made after all the classic works I have read. So whenever I finish a book I look up to see if there is a movie version of it on netflix.
So I have had French Lieutenant's Woman on my list for a while, and when onto netflix to move it to the top of my list because I have a movie ready to send back tomorrow and much to my shock, it said that there was currently a long wait for the movie.
This quite surprised for a few reasons, for one because French Lieutenant's Woman had been near to the top of my list for a while, and I am pretty sure its unavailability is rather recent and this is the first time I have ever had a movie I want to watch not be available. As well to say the least it did not seem to me to be a movie that would be very highly in demand considering it is an older movie, though because of that same reason it may also be they don't keep that many copies of the movie in stock.
But still when a movie like that suddenly is all rented out, I can't help but wonder if "there is something going on" like is it Merrill Streepe's birthday or are people rushing out to want to watch her movies because she won at some award's show, or is there some school somewhere that is studying the book.
So after having my plans foiled I had to decide what I wanted to watch instead. I was tempted to go in a completely different direction and choose one of my foreign vampire movies but I decided to compromise and went with Wurthering Heights, a classic of a more gothic nature.
