I'm sorry for kinda flooding the forums, but this is something that I think needs to be known.

I was doing an essay concerning capital punishment, and I found this.

There is evidence that child executions are taking place in the parts of Somalia controlled by the Islamic Courts Union. In October 2008, a girl, Aisho Ibrahim Dhuhulow was buried up to her neck at a football stadium, then stoned to death in front of more than 1,000 people. The stoning occurred after she had allegedly pleaded guilty to adultery in a shariah court in Kismayo, a city controlled by Islamist insurgents. According to the insurgents she had stated that she wanted shariah law to apply.[59] However, other sources state that the victim had been crying, that she begged for mercy and had to be forced into the hole before being buried up to her neck in the ground.[60] Amnesty International later learned that the girl was in fact 13 years old and had been arrested by the al-Shabab militia after she had reported being gang-raped by three men.[61]

    That is really painful to read. Unfortunately I can't say I'm surprised as I know that stoning still exists in some Islamic countries, and that women sometimes suffer when they report being raped.

    Sadly, Daniel, the United States is one of ten countries know to have executed people under the age of eighteen. I would have to look up my source, but I'm pretty sure that's accurate.

    My sympathies to the lady in question and may there be some mercy for her in the afterlife. I suspect there will be many surprises on judgement day for those who render 'justice' as well as we the common man.

    This really make me feel petty and selfish when it comes to my day-to-day worries and struggles. I believe Qimi is right about the U.S.A executions, though. Women in civilized countries, if not stoned to death, still go to prison for defending themselves when encountered with rape and assault.

    Women (often very young ones, think ten) have been stoned to death for being raped, too.

    Ouch.

    Very personal for me.

    I like living in Australia now. I think I'm going to stop complaining about rubbish on the ground at the beach and the weather.

    Fair enough they have to do what they have to do, even though I really find stoning someone to death a little cruel. Maybe that is just me. Doing it in a football arena just draws it for me, I just can't imagine how many people would pay to get a seat at the stoning of a thirteen year old kid.

    I suppose there would be some advantages to being male. I don't think a thirteen year old boy would be stoned to death, he could even score a few hi-5s.
