Mushroom Photo Log

Rate this Entry
Since I talk about my little mushroom project here, I thought I would share some of my mushroom photographs.

This is yet to be indentified

Pear-Shaped Puffball

Close up of Pear-Shaped Puffball

This is pretty cool it is the inside of a Pear-Shaped puffball

Now these guys are really trippy. First of all because they are huge, and 2nd of all becasue if you look under them, it is sponge like. They are a type of Boletales known as Suillus Granualtus

Pretty sure this is a type of Leptonia

Below are my latested find, as much as I would like to think it is some rare type of mushroom its true idenity is not yet to be fully determined

Ah, a mycologist in our midst.
A fungus among us. Sorry, I
    could not resist. Cool photos.
    Mushrooms are somewhat rare
    here in the desert.

Hehe, thank you and yes I can imagine you don't get many in a desert, they usually like cool, shady moist places.

Your latest find looks like it would be delicious. It kind of looks like a pastry.

I would be so wary of picking these things up, let alone eating them. You're a brave girl Dark Muse.

Who knew there would be so many mushrooms right in your area?! I've only ever seen those pale ones, probably the puffballs (love that name), but then, I never looked all that closely, either.

Yes, I myself was quite surprised when I acutally started looking how many different kinds were probably right under my nose all along
