Okay okay so I haven’t blogged for ages. I’ve had nothing to say. I’ve done nothing. Been nowhere. But something strange happened to me last night, well it was actually the morning, just after 12.
Hang on. I need to set the scene a bit here.
A couple of years ago I went to Jersey and went to a place called Treasures of the Earth where I looked up my star sign and found my lucky stone. I figured why not, I might as well and so bought a necklace made from that stone. I wore it a lot. About a year or so later it broke (It was like little stones all strung together, pretty flimsy really). So the next year I went to Jersey again and bought a new one, a different design. It’s one ring and a smaller ring neatly tied onto a piece of leather.
I’m not sure if there’s a name for it or not so I’ll just have to poorly describe it. You know when you have a piece of string (for example) and you fold it in half and thread it through a loop (say a polo for example) then thread the two ends of the string (that are together) through the loop of string on the other side of the polo and pull it tight and the polo is now secured to the string. Tell me if this isn’t making any sense and I’ll try to find a picture or something.
Anyway, that’s what the bigger ring is like on my necklace, it’s like the polo in the string. Right. That’s the important detail. Then the smaller ring is threaded on top and a knot is tied above it to hold it in place and then I tie the leather up behind my neck. I also added a mood ring to it when I bought it too (I’ve always liked them but I was afraid of losing it, because I don’t wear rings that often.) it’s just threaded onto the completed necklace and the larger ring stops it from falling off.
So, that’s the necklace.
I used to wear it all of the time except at school. Then, for luck, I wore it for my GCSE retakes and passed. Then I thought it’s a bit cheeky really, only wearing it when I really need luck and leaving it at home the rest of the time. So, I started wearing it all of the time, even when I sleep. The only time I don’t wear it is when I’m in the bath. During that time I leave it hanging on a plastic cactus lamp and put it back on when I next enter my room (usually when I’m going to bed).
A couple of times I’ve changed the leather on it because it wore out. It’s never been a problem.
So, last night I retrieved it from the cactus as normal and I found that the loop was undone (The thing I described with the polo earlier). The larger ring was still attached but the loop was undone. Now, imagine that polo on the string again, right? There’s another polo on top of it with a knot above it (Try it out if you like, I can’t, I don’t like polo’s personally because I hate mint) and see if it’s possible to remove the bottom polo (the one in the loop) without breaking or untying the rest of it. Because I can’t see how it’s possible. The larger ring came off. No breaks in the leather (it’s rather worn now, I haven’t changed it for ages) No damage to the ring. I haven’t untied it since I changed the leather ages ago. Now if it wasn’t tied properly in the first place (the only clear explanation) then why did it not become loose before? I’ve worn it at school all day, when I sleep, everywhere. So why now? The only other explanation is that someone untied it. But there was just me here and mum. And for her to untie that loop she’d have had to undo the knot at the top (I should say knots, I tie it three times so it doesn’t come loose), take off the mood ring. undo the knot above the smaller ring, take the smaller ring off and then undo the loop and then put it all back together again. What would be the point? I don’t know. Any ideas? Because it’s got me stumped.
Oh well. Thanks for sticking with me on the poor descriptions and all.
Bluebiird out.
