Halls of the Dark Muse

You Have to See it to Believe It!

Rate this Entry
I was walking past the window when I was greeted with a rather surreal sight which I could scarcely believe, were I not looking right at it. My cat Zeo was sitting there watching with a look of intrigued curiosity a squirrel not even three feet away rather contentedly eating without the least bit of concern for the presence of the cat. I stood a moment in transfixed fascination before running down the hall to grab my camera as the opportunity could not be allowed to escape.

Ha! That is fascinating. That squirrel won't live long if he keeps doing that.

LOL he will be safe enough with Zeo, who is too lazy to put much effort into hunting, but Zeo's brother Taz would have snagged him in a heartbeat.

Wicked picture! Perhaps the squirrel has a 'cat with full tummy' detector?

Yes, what a moment. I often wonder with animals and how they act. Do they forget for a moment who they really are? Or are they just saying "Oh, alright, you can stay, but just this once." I have watched my cat let birds eat her leftover biscuits and my dog sit and watch the birds eat half of her evening meal, one day, only to make such a fuss and chase them off - another day. Maybe we have confused their thinking with all this pampering we give them. I liked to think we are responsible for this joyous change in their thinking.
