I Get My Life back

Rate this Entry
So here I was blogging away yesterday and I hit the CAPS button and next thing I knew there went the entry into cyberspace. The back space (my usual savior) failed this time and several half way decent jokes about me and a certain moderator went bye bye as well plus one real good zinger on the IRS harpy from last April.

So short version. You are missing an entire section of my latest ambulance ride and short stay in the hospital. Let alone the Pinkeye fiasco and the fallout from that.

I called IRS last Friday at the behest of Call Center supervisor Debbie (who is my ultimate fearless leader except for Mr. K. the AAA President who also heard about the medical mishap. Can you say pay attention to WHEN you take your pills to avoid overdosing and collapsing (in my case laying down seconds before I was going to FALL down) at credit unions. Sigh--not a one of my beloved cashiers offered TV medical administrations of the eye candy sort.

I was NOT going to ask mercy of our lately avaricious collectors of the national toil but I did want to know how 2002 was doing. $700 away from payoff. How about the grand total. $29,100. Progress since we started at $37,000 in back taxes.

I start to calculate how much more my length of home arrest and what issue of Jonah Hex will be out (#83)--currently #51 is on sale when the gentleman (Mr. Abraham of symbolic importance to me at least) observes I'm paying an enormous monthly for a levy ($900 average--and with overtime it's been actually higher) and would I like to try a payment plan again.

For only a second I thought about pleading the eventual failure to abide though for a number of years I was doing quite well at $300 a month so I quickly agreed to $500 a month and the returning $400 will be used as wolf at door food until I get stabilized. I rewarded myself today by tracking down the one-shot Phantom Stranger #42 (long story--don't ask) that I missed during the last two weeks.

Plus stealing from my son one final time from his account (mostly for gas and cat food) until my pay kicks back in--next Thursday.

So this long nightmare is drawing to a close. Ruth is still job hunting. Dressed up very nicely today for an interview but it turned out to be type where the secretary asked a couple of questions and shooed her along with the other five ladies that showed up as well. Not expecting anything to come of that.

How long has Ruth been looking for a job ? Tell her to hang in there, she'll find something.

I have not tuned into your blog, or any blog, for quite a while...i want to say thank you - for reassuring me that time had stood still because you're still entertaining us with your 'latest ambulance ride and short stay in the hospital'. I think you should publish these as memoirs, stick a few attractive nurses in, handsome docs, steal some sex from Mills and Boons (I believe that have a whole medical section now) and you're done.

Glad to hear things are improving for you as well. Sorry I've not called back, things are crazy still a bit and time is short:( I hope that all is well and the ambulance ride was nothing severe. My love to you and Ruth, and I hope that things will work out for her with a job soon. Love you!!! Meg

I hope that you're doing well.

But to the real issue here ( ): How was Phantom Stranger #42? It's part of the Darkest Night series, yes? I've been following the Green Lantern title on this run as best as I can. But I live in such a remote area that I have to order most of my comics, so I forget every now and then.

Ruth has been job hunting since last April or so. She puts out resumes and goes to interviews. The major stumbling block as been the no experience factor that continues to be the backbone of teenage despair the world over. As to the Phantom Stranger I have loved the character for years and the oldest DC I own is his original #2 from the 1950s. A harder to find series from Dc owuld be hard to name--I've seen more issues of Scribbley and early Tomahawks comparatively. Yes #42 was part f the Darkest Night but I'm not sure where it fit in--I put Green Lantern on hiatus until I got my finances more under control. Involved trying to free the Spectre from being swallowed up by the Black Spectre--didn't work and finding a safe home for Boston Brand's bones in Nanda Parbat. The Stranger had a few things to say about HOW and WHEN he chooses to take an active role in things which was a tremendous relief to me as I prefer a pro-active Stranger to the Watcher style he was protrayed in Shadowpact. Good issue--wish he could get an ongoing again.

Geez, I'm glad you're OK! And I'm glad you're getting your debt paid off. Living on the edge financially as I always do, (I'm a TEACHER) after all! I feel your pain!

I wish Ruth good luck at job hunting. She is persistent, somthing is bound to turn up.
