I made this list of "what women want" when I was about 19, which was quite some time ago. I thought it might be fun(ny) to post here. And, hell, it's not too shabby.

From the Journal
Here is what women want in men, the definitive list! (Soon to be revised).

  1. A circle of mystery at the center of which is integrity.
  2. Strength -- stout emotional control, respectable biceps, handy with the tools of the workshop, is not afraid of infants.
  3. Scruff (specifically 4-7 days worth of facial stubble)
  4. A playful curiosity -- a man who smiles when the way is unclear, who likes to learn but who does not take himself of his learning too seriously, who leads but does not dominate the dance

Well, there it is. The entirety of what I knew about women when I was a scared, young and rather foolish young man.

    Lol, it's quite interesting to go back and read old journals from years ago. I like the mild formality of the descriptions

    skib -- if you're takin' notes, all I say is "buyer beware! This advice is subject to fail without notice"

    Daniel -- I had another, more, how shall I say. .. "terse" list. It, however, is not suitable for print.

    Quite amusing!

    1 is definitately true and 2 if I replace infants with an assortment of pets. (I myself have a fear of infants)

    Once again, my good man, you never cease to amaze me... I think the name TheComedian was placed upon you for a reason, but I am not quite sure...

    You were leagues ahead of me when I was your age. I naively thought ladies wouild appreciate the 'nice' guy approach and have always been baffled by the success of the BAD boys. Thye rarely even seem to be angered by the casual betrayals. Sigh.

    it's a good list. I'd go for all of it except the biceps, I prefer a man who squishes when I cuddle him; I don't like to cuddle up to a wall. Impressive for 19.

    I'm curious though: what would your list say now?

    Sounds like a fun project -- I think, now, I'd break the general "women" category into a several sub-sections, then offer a top five list for each sub-section.

    Of course doing so would give me the reputation of being a womanizing cad, which I'm not. So, I'm a little hesitant about publishing such a project here.

    Trust me, any sensible woman would prefer this kind of guy over this kind of guy.

    The trouble is right here in this quote, I believe.

    You consider the kind of women who would go for the guys with bank accounts and flashy cars "hot". I think this is a failing on men's side, not women's.
