They are never here when you need them

Arrrgggahhhhhhhh!

Of course my sister and brother-in-law had to leave today, to spend time with his stupid family that nobody even likes, and he doesn't even like spending time with, now that I actually need him to be useful to me.

I have been working on transferring all my work that I have saved on floppy discs onto a flash drive but after I go to the second floppy disc, like half-way through it, out of nowhere I started getting these cannot save because of permission error message.

At first I thought it had something to do with the disc or the computer, and so I started saving the work into e-mails to send to myself and than I opened them up on my other lap top and saved them from there, and that seemed to work for a while, when all of the sudden today I got the message again.

But now I cannot get it to save anything. Even if I type something brand new it will not save it, on either of the computers, but it still will open files, and the computer claims that it is working properly and cannot detect any errors.

And by brother-in-law is a computer geek and could probably fix the problem in like 5 seconds, but now I have to wait, they will be coming back sometime Thursday evening I think it is.

But I have no patience for waiting, even if I don't even have to use it for anything immediately I am just going to have the annoyed and pissed off until he gets here and fixes the problem.

I understand your frustration but surely it is more important for him to be his family at Thanks Giving than saving some files onto computer

He can do that when he gets back and you say it isn't so urgent anyway.

Take a deep breath and find another project for yourself till then

But he does not even like spending time with his family on Thanksgiving, he would rather just be here, he just dose it becasue he feels obligated.

And my sister HATES it over there!

I'm sorry, Dark Muse. It is frustrating. Our hard drive just broke, and it required two trips to another part of town to get it right.

Also, I have this flash drive, and my boyfriend put some things on it from another flash drive, and now it says it's full, even though when we checked the space it syas hardly any has been used. And he's a computer geek too. G-r-r-r!

Yeah, and the funniest thing is after it won't save, when I go to close the document I get the message that says do you want to save this?

Uh duh! You won't let me.

Whether he likes it or not, surely fulfilling the obligation is more important than fixing your computer. This is Thanksgiving, probably the biggest family day after Christmas.

LOL but if he stayed here for Thanksgiving everyone in the long run would be happier, and I would get what I wanted

You will not find me having any sympathy for his mother. But trust me there is good reason for that beyond this slight inconvenience.

    She is a horrid woman!

you can go to Office Max and get a thumb drive/flash drive/USB for about $10.

I just looked up what a thumb drive was, and that is what I have, I just always called them zip discs because I heard them refered to by that term before when they were first starting to become popular.

Or maybe I misunderstood, I am no good with all that techno termenology. But it is one of those USB things that I have been using that hasn't been working properly.

No Muse, Zip disks are actual floppy disks. They have gone out of fashion, though my old computer still accepts them and i have a bunch of unused ones. A thumb drive is a USB port that holds a heck of a lot of memory, depending on the one you get. They are the current preferred method of data handling, though a CD is still used. I seem to recall something about zip disks crashing the computer, though I never had a problem. i love the thumb drives, way more convenient than CDs. But I have seen where thumb drives are supposed carry viruses, and I believe some companies have banned them from use on their computers. Again I have not had that experience. The proper name for it is flash drive, and you can read about it here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/USB_flash_drive
