Irrelevant Criticism

It is quite an established fact that I probably enjoy commercials more than I enjoy TV shows. Now of course there are a lot of ridiculously annoying commercials out there (infomercials!!), but some are very clever and ironic. I especially like the Progressive ones, the over-the-top satirical tailgate Bud Light commercials, as well as the Coors ones in which they have a bunch of guys seemingly talking to these football coaches, quite some comedic editing there. Mainly, I just like commerncials which are able to be self-consciously critical of themselves. Many of them seem to take the squeaky-clean song-based commercials of the 80's and 90's and give an edge to them by parody.
Okay, I was watching the Packers game today and this pitifully sentimental Kay Jewlers commercial came on. Oh God was it so outdated. If you think Kay Jewlers commercials are corny and terrible, get this: So there's a storm going on and there's a clasp of thunber. Oh no! A couple hug and the man says "It's all right I'm here." Pause (touching moment coming) "I'll always be here." Awwww, how touching. Then they have shots of them shopping at Kay Jewlers. Oh I think I have a tear in my eye. "Every kiss begins with Kay."
What a load of crap! Commercials are basically pollution for television, so at least waste my time by giving me something clever and ironic.
Well there's your daily dose of commercial criticism. Obviously one of the leading issues in todays society.
