Guilty Reading Pleasures

Ever since I had that class in Child Lit which I had posted about a few times both in my blog and upon the forum during the time I was taking it I had developed something of a guilty pleasure for reading YA books.
This had started to come about because for one thing I did genuinely enjoy the books we had read for the class, and I particularly loved the work Feed by M.T. Anderson which was a dystopia and done quite well with an interesting narrative technique, and I found out from my teacher that the same author also wrote a vampire book Thirsty, so of course I just had to have that which I read for Halloween over this past October, and it was a great read. I loved the book.
There were also a couple of other books by some of the authors we read for the class that sounded like they be interesting and I was curious about them though I haven't yet had the chance to pick any of them up yet, and I have a few books in my room that I did not even know were supposed to be YA that I picked up just because they sounded interesting and later discovered they were YA.
A couple of months ago one of my Goodreads groups did The Book Thief a YA book, and I thought it sounded interesting and it turned out to be a rather interesting book, which had a particularly unique narrative style that I really enjoyed.
Than recently I saw the previews for The Vampire's Assistant, and of course I thought OMG I have to see that, and it looked like it could be really cool, and later I discovered it was based off a series of YA books, and as I mentioned in my Halloween entry, I picked up a copy of the first three books (an all in one volume) and just started reading today, and thus far I am enjoying it.
The thing which I like about YA is the fact that in addition to be quick and easy entertaining reads, the good ones are also thought provoking in their own way, and can indeed offer more than just base entertainment. Particularly the works of M.T. Anderson, in which even if the books are not truly complex, there is a lot going on within them and a lot that can be taken away from them.
