Remembrance

I decided that now that i have a blog, i'm going to post some of the poems i've posted in the personal poetry thread here. At least i know they wont go into the abyss here! (unless i get extremely blog happy and go crazy! )

So here is the first of those poems! The title was originally Recollection but i changed it after Pen suggested it. I agreed that it suited it better! Thanks Pen!

REMEMBRANCE

Life so sad and lonely
Full of death an destruction,
Quite close to home, and only
Peace of mind is in construction.

With great fears of sudden loss,
And sudden loss revealed,
With only happiness to toss,
The fate of the world is sealed.

Two towers that stood grand and tall,
Two gliding birds crash into a floor.
Thousands die beneath its fall
And bring the world into a war.

School kids mocked, teased and jeered,
Segragation within their neighbourhood,
In twenty years we may hear they've cheered
A saddened cry against a loss of childhood.

Corruption is nothing but the beginning,
Destruction middle, loss the end.
And with a band of heralds singing,
God his Angels shall he send.

I like it! You've inspired me to post a poem I wrote 11 days before 9/11 - when I'm not indolent like I am right now. (-:

Very nicely done. It reads well too.

Thanks steph! The poem is more worldly than America alone. Part of the poem, About the children is about an event in Northern Ireland that happened around the same time as 9 11. A group of catholic school children werent aloud to walk down a street to there school by a group of protestants. They were only kids. They probably wouldnt have even know what secterianism ment.
