The New Cat

Rate this Entry
Thank God for animal sex.

Moderators frantically PM Logos for her lawyer's number with a frantic "He's finally lost it!!"

The Countess (if she was still here) would curl her lip in contempt of Mtpspur's cheap opening ploy to keep a reader's attention span. AndaveYa would sigh and go reread old blog entires when I actually had something to say.

So to avoid being banned or corrupting minors the praise of male/female animals was brought on by my latest blunder in cohabiting with the Long Suffering Spouse.

A few days ago she was offered a kitten that was approaching 7 weeks old from a friend at work whose daughter's cat had had a litter and homes were being sought after.

We had lost two of ours to old age and illness the past few months and for the first time in years I wasn't violating a lease agreement so I said would be nice to have a new furball to spoil and she could even name it.

As a finally long time married man you would have thought that I would added qualifiers but I was having what is more and more becoming recurring moments of living in dreamland where cell phones and facebook chat rooms are always filled with friends just waiting for your arrival. The Countess would quit reading at this point at the obvious advertisement of past entries--so so sad.

My wife (who I used to praise on a regular basis for her common sense) wanted to name the kitten after her girlfriend in Indiana. I am torn between wanting to snort in disgust or laugh outright versus my initial of she MUST be crazy and they called me obsessed with a certain moderator--sigh. I start to mentally cringe at the thought of calling this poor innocent creature by a name that I hold mostly in derision--(her name is Amy) and you will NEVER find her on my Facebook friend's list. She is a female version of ME without the self awareness. And ALL the drama queen characteristics that make people either like me or despise me whichever their leanings are more predominant in their natures.

To my relief the kitten is a male (pretty sure after one quick exam) and Ruth decides Happy suits him as he was spoiled rotten his first five minutes in the house. In fact all evening I've been at work counting the minutes until I can get home to him and cuddle some more.

Our dog Onyx is pouting or sulking--there are Drama Queens galore in my house.

Animals shouldn''t have people names- simple rule. *quick tally of how many of my animals are named after people...* Okay, so I'm a hypocrite, but nonetheless. Amy?

Despite the hints about past entries, I'm still catching up on new ones. . Be happy your blog merits attention, Rich.

Oh how we spoil our pets  Glad to hear about the new addition, and Onyx will get over it. I always smile when I think of people naming pets after people. I was amazed to find a little boy who shared the same name as my big dog, Keeghan.

I have a cat named Tom ( I couldn't resist), and I had another named Tuffy (he wasn't of course), two of my favorite male cat names. My female cats are Phoebe and Lucy. But my personal favorite was my cat Sukey (she died in January), a lap cat par exellence.

Enjoy Happy. May your years together be many and long.
