Jivan-mukta

[Jivan-mukta means one who has realized God though continuing to live in this life.]
Oh perfect one,
Tell us about God.
He is the life of His devotees,
who know no master but Him.
They chant His names, and increase
the ocean of transcendental bliss.
Please explain about devotees.
Pure devotees worship the all-attractive God.
They are always declaring His glories,
and they serve Him out of love.
Perfect devotees do not care even for liberation in this life or the next.
How can one connect with God?
By always repeating the names of God,
one becomes completely free from all distress.
One becomes free from fear and desire and all affliction.
When one becomes pure, then one's body is a holy place.
In this way one connects with God.
Association with pure devotees is auspicious,
and association with non-devotees is inauspicious.
A single branch is easily broken,
but a bundle of them is very strong.
It is said in Srimad Bhagavatam, that even a
moment's association with a saintly person
brings inestimable benefit.
What is the highest enlightenment?
The highest enlightenment is to attain and know God through friendship and love.
How is that you can know that God exists, and why do you recommend this path of devotion? Have you attained God?
By three ways; by logic, although we basically do not have the intelligence to do this, generally. Second is by the path I mentioned, which is elucidated in Srimad Bhagavatam; and lastly from my own knowledge.
I had attained God once, but now this is a distant memory.
How is it logical to say God exists?
Two ways mainly. God is infinite.
In mathematics if we can learn and understand the rules well, we can know the existence of the number we call infinity is well-proven.
The second way is to understand God is the absolute truth, or the source of all which exists. God is absolute truth, or in other words, truth with no contradiction.
The world is relative. God is absolute.
Actually the world is illusion. It is not illusion, but it is full of illusion. It is all God's energy. We can be free of the illusion if we know this. To be free means to transcend. To attain the self means to wake up from illusion.
However, no life is purely intellectual, or logical.
Ultimately God can only be realized through love as God is, in totality, pure love. How can one love be realized through any way but love?
God is not only love, however. God is infinite peace, power, intelligence, and bliss.
So God is not a person?
We are persons, and God is a person. But God is the Supreme Person. Supreme means that God is all-attractive, all-powerful, all peace, all knowledge, and all bliss.
Just for fun, can you explain monism?
Monism and theism are two paths, which sometimes cross, and sometimes merge. You will see they are very similar because they both call for similar practices: they require one to never eat meat, take intoxication, or have sex except for the goal of having children.
They cross at times because in monism, it is necessary at some point to perform worship of the Personality of God.
All of this seems complicated. Isn't simplicity recommended?
Yes! Simplicity is the goal! No words can describe the infinite.
However, we communicate in this way, with words.
What is the most essential instruction?
There is no most essential instruction. This is merely my answer to your question. God will call to him who He will. Those he does become devotees, and become jivan-muktas in this life.
Of religious scriptures, Srimad Bhagavatam is the highest.
The difference between monism and theism is that monism's highest goal is the "I am God," state, while a strict theist wishes to remain only the devotee of God, and says, "Thou art the Master, and I am Thy servant."
Are you a monist or a theist?
I am a devotee of God. But I have attain and known God fully. Therefore I am presenting this for you.
What exists?
God exists. And surrounding Him is infinite peace.
Does God have activities?
Yes. They are described in Srimad Bhagavatam, in the 10th Canto. But one must first read the preceding 9 Cantos before one is ready to understand them.
What is necessary in life?
Strength. All strength comes from God, whether we give Him the credit or not. Strength comes from purity. It also comes from humble love. Whoever is easily offended is the weakest of anyone, for he is controlled by anyone.
Therefore the best strength comes from complete resolve.
About all you have told me, how do you know you are right?
Everyone knows they're right. But I really am...
I'm only joking. But to answer you seriously, I am telling these things because I have seen God, and known God completely. Though it is now a memory, I know it is real.
Can you explain about maya? The world is full of 6 billion people who say that it is real.
It is apparently real. But really, it is only apparent. He is unfortunate who mistakes it for the truth.
In the end, no words can describe the difference between illusion and truth. I mean, no words can prove it. To describe it is easy. Illusion is unreal, unsubstantial, exactly like a dream. Truth is real, substantial, exactly like the awake state.
In the dream, we are paralyzed. Everyone who is in this consciousness is actually suffering. If your sleep stretches on long enough, you will be restless more and more until you really start to suffer - suffer, simply because you long to be awake.
The good news is that everyone will be liberated. This world is not the end-all. It is actually just an illusion. Reality is infinite, and you can leave the illusion whenever you like.
How can one leave the illusion?
First, give up activities which will damn you for sure. I have it from God's own truth that animals do not like to be killed. As there is absolutely no reason it is necessary to eat meat, there is utterly no justification for the slaugther of animals to eat.
Once in our kitchen we had too many flies. And I killed them, I killed some. Then after I killed one more, I had a horrible headache, the worst. Maybe it was psychosomatic. Maybe not. But I will never forget that profound experience, and because of that, I will never kill any insect.
And then?
Seek truth in everything you do. Follow your best judgement. Know yourself. Trust yourself. Learn for yourself, learn everything. Learn discrimination first, as the most important. Do this so you may know what is true.
God is most important. God is the center, the first and last. God is pure love, the absolute truth, and the absolute ground of reality. God is in the heart in every living being.
If one becomes enlightened by God, then one preaches that to know God is the highest truth, and further, one is not conditioned by illusion, knowing both the world and the pure, spiritual energy of God which is the background of the material energy.
Then one knows God is the source of infinite existence, and as one exists in God, therefore one has never suffered, and was never bound.
It is indeed possible to know infinite peace and bliss. That is our fundamental nature, one in quality with God. Sac-chid-ananda.
God is beyond everything. In absolute stillness, and infinite bliss, is God. Our real nature is divine self-knowledge. It is boundless. As we exist in God, therefore nothing ever bound us, we were always free.
Therefore worship the ever-youthful Sage, the Ever Perfect, Ever Pure, Ever Blessed One, the all-attractive player of His Flute, the Supreme Soul. Worship with simplicity and love. By this you will be perfect, and you will know everything.
