I wrote this for a contest on another site, the contest was called Seven, and the premiss of it was that the poet could choose between either the seven sins or the seven virtues and write a poem containing all the words within thier choosen set.
I thought it would be too easy and obvious for me to do the sins, so instead I decided it would be more of a challenge and more interesting to take the virtues and twist them around.
Death of an Angel
With great temperance I have waited upon this moment
restraining my burning need to wrap my fingers around
your neck, and let free the cold icy touch that justice reins,
in patience I lingered from the shadows waiting with faith
that at long last I shall watch an angel fall to her knees.
But steady as a predator, it was with prudence I made
my plans, for my soul quivered at the thought of your eyes
and I called upon my fortitude to see me through to your bitter end.
Nare did I loose hope, that alas your suffering should be made,
to see your back broken upon the rack, it was the only charity
which I could spare, to allow at last the breath to escape from your
pleading lips, as you spoke my name at last.
