Well I decided to go to my doctor this morning after waking up feeling rather pooy and sore eye.My chest hurt, my nose was running, my head felt stuffy and my throat felt like someone was scrapping claws on it.
So i went to my doctor and got checked up and as it turned out i had an upper respiratory infection. caused by a virus so is contageous and easily passed on. (and some icky blisthers on my throat.)I was given a perscription and a note for work to cover sick leave till tuesday.
Now all i had to do was call work and let them know. This is basicly how it went.
Niamh: hi ____ this is Niamh here.
Personnel Manager: Hi Niamh How are you?
Niamh: Not to good actually. I've got an upper respiratory infection. I'm going to be out till tuesday.
P.Msuddenly changes tone of voice to one of disbelief) Really.
Naimh: yeah. I've got blisters up and down my throat. I went up to the doctor about conjunctivitis in my eye and it turned out i also had an infection. I have a cert till tuesday.
P.M: Now Niamh have you been to the doctor?
Niamh: (bit confused) Yes i've just been. I'm certified.
P.M: Right. And are you supposed to be working this weekend?
Niamh: (starting to feel a bit guilty.)Yes i'm supposed to be on the early.
P.M: Fine. I'll Let _____ know you wont be in. I suppose i'm going to have to find cover for you now.(sounding like its an inconvnience.)
Niamh: Sorry....
P.M: Okay Niamh.
Naimh: Bye.
end of conversation.
I seriously felt guilty for being sick after this conversation. I also felt like i wasnt believed or just causing an inconvinience. Hence why i hate ringing in sick. I always feel worse after the call than before making it!
