I might have conjunctivitis in my left eye. I have some eye drops. I know that this is suppose to be contageous, so my question is this.

Has anyone else had this?

Should i not go to work and get a sick note?

and how long does it take to clear up?

I've only had it since yesterday and its driving my mad! my eye keeps weeping, its sticky and i had to clear alot of sleepymen from my eyes this morning.(yellow crusty stuff)

At my place we can call in sick but if we hit 5 days we have to have a doctor's note. I think this will let up in about 3 days.

i think over here we only have three days before you need a note. I'm due in work tomorrow on a late and then in late fri (midnight) mid sat(8am) and early sunday(6am) which i dont think will help me clear it in three days. But i still dont know what to do. I'm one of these people who always goes in sick and i even have one of the polish girls in work terming coming in to work sick as doing a Niamh. but is this one of those situations where i cant go in?

I've never had it, sorry you do it sounds painful and irritating! I get crusty /goo stuff sometimes due to allergies, I've always got (sterile) saline solution at hand to wash it out, which is also very soothing. I'd say yeah I wouldn't go to work like that if it is contagious.

my other eye is starting to feel odd now too. i text the manager i work with to say i might not be in but knowing my mam she'll have me out the door before i can say "i think i should stay at home!"

I think the infection spreads by touching the goop when you rub your eye, and then touching an object that another will handle. So, try not to rub your eyes....if you get goop on your hand and touch your other eye, well....that's not good.
