Halls of the Dark Muse

Yes! I am back, and as mad, bad and dark as ever

First of all for those waiting in suspense, I have the misfortunate to report that I have not had any further monster encounters, but the water level was low this year because of drought. But I did have one curious experience. One night I was having trouble sleeping and there were all sorts of weird noises going on at night. It was just like being home in one regard. The cabin right behind the one we rent is a preeminent residence and the people there seem a bit on the strange side. It was the middle of the night or later and it sounded like they had sprinklers running or something. So anyway, I sleep up in the loft and was making me way down the stairs to go to the restroom, and right to the left of the foot of the stairs is the TV. As I near the bottom of the steps I catch a distinct movement and turn to look and saw this black shadow dart toward the TV then just disappear.

All in all the trip was pretty cool, the weather was nice compared to here, though it would get stuffy in the cabin at nights, especially up in the loft. One night we stayed up until one in the morning watching the meteor shower and there were some pretty wicked cool meteors, that streaked brightly across the sky. One of the things I love about being up in the mountains is being able to see vast amounts of stars. Also for two nights in a row I heard coyotes at night which was AWSOME!

Another cool thing, is every year when I go, they have a Shakespeare festival and so me and my sister always go to watch a play, and this year we saw Measure For Measure which I really enjoyed, though I think the "actress" who played Mariana was a drag queen, which hey there is nothing wrong with that, but she just looked odd her costume, she had very broad shoulders and a robust build and a very deep low voice. But I really enjoyed the play overall, it was one that I did not previously know much about.

I am also becoming a big fan of Indian food. Last year I just happened to see in some magazine type touristy book a listing for some Indian restaurant and some of the food looked good, and I was curious, and I found out that my sister really loves Indian food and so we went out, and everything was really good. So this year my and my sister and brother-in-law went out to a different Indian restaurant up there and again I loved almost everything.

I did get some sketch work done while I was up there, one is a still life and the other still a work in progress when I have pictures I will download them and post them up. I also got an idea for a new painting while I was up there but I still have something here I need to finish first.

I might share some of the photos I took while I was there though because last year I took a bunch of scenic type shots, and so this year, I didn't want to just take a bunch of the same photos, so I went for more conceptual type photography. But I will share what photos I particularly enjoy.

Have some new poems I wrote while I was up there as well, many inspired by the trip itself, some of which I will surely end up sharing here.
