day in a life

Swine flu is an epidemic in my country. I know one person who has had it, and one of my housemates relatives has it. The strain of the flu came originally from Pigs, hence the name.
I for one am cautious about it, but i'm not doing the mask or anything. I work in the Airport, and apparantly the statistic is 1 out of every 11 people passing through have been in contact with it, which mean everyone who works in the airport is in potential threat of getting it. I could have it in my system as i was incontact with the person i know when they fell ill. But so far i'm not sick.
We've had a few outbreaks in gaeltacht schools this summer, mainly over the last few weeks, and one person in an induced coma and one death.

I hope you manage to convince yourself regardin ST. Never been a fan of the show.

I hear there are a lot of people who have it, but no one I know has gotten it, and I work in a school, so I'm around a lot of people. But working in an airport you're around tons more Niamh, so you are wise to exercise some caution.

You, too, Helga. Actually, my understanding is that it is the very young and the very elderly and those with underlying health concerns who are the most vulnerable.

I really like the new Star Trek. Whoever those young actors are I thought they captured the spirit of the original with freshness and verve.

yeah the girl who died here was 19. She had cycitc fibrosis. It is a real death threat to anyone with this illness.

I don't know if that Hitler quote is accurate or not but hitler died in 1945.

Swine flu, in my humble opinion is over blown. Mortality rates seem to be higher for he regular flu than for the swine flu. Of course that could change, but frankly it seems to be a media driven panic. Actually a friend of mine at work got it a few months ago when it was a big deal. And though I normally get a flu shot every year, i haven't decided whether I'll include the swine flu shot this year. They will be offering it. Do they have enough tests under their belt to have proven its safety? Not sure. But we'll see.

A second person i work with now has it, and another person with a medical condition died either today of yesterday.
The swine flu shot isnt safe for kids as far as i have gathered. I thought it was all overblown until suddenly it was on my doorstep and the risk of it became more alert.

I don't mean to make it less than it is because I know people have died from it, and people around me have been getting it and are fine now so I won't worry until have to but it is true that since I work at a home for the elderly it would be bad if they came to contact with it. when it first was an issue in Mexico the newspapers here had big interviews with EVERYBODY from Iceland living in Mexico, it was so uninteresting and made to scare you.

about the Hitler quote, I thought it was weird since he was long dead when he was supposed to have said it, I have been wondering though when he did say it...

1945 is when Hitler supposedly said it, probably a misprint on the cover of the dvd. Good film though.
