Tulsi is a very sacred plant from India, who has great medicinal value. Tulsi is also worshipped as a Goddess, Tulsi Devi. Tulsi beads, made from tulsi wood, are used to make mala, for chanting japa, as well as beads to go around the neck. If someone has tulsi beads on when they die, they are free from rebirth and go back to God.
