OK, so I headed off to the city this morning to hopefully get all our adoption documents Apostilled. I had wanted to get there as soon as they opened (9:00 AM) but I didn't get my butt out the door till 9:00. I took the bus to the ferry and I had just missed the 9:30 ferry so I had to wait for the 10:00. Got to the manhattan side around 10:30 and then I had about a 15 minute walk. At least today is not humid.

I get to the building and go up to the 19th floor.
I was praying that it wouldn't be crowded like last time. Lo and behold there is no line. I sign in and get on line. I hand in all the documents and pray that they are all ok this time. Drum roll please!!!! dum! dum! dum! dum! THEY ARE ALL OK
I pay for the Apostille process and am told to have a seat. 20 minutes later I walk out of the building with a skip in my step. This calls for another !!!
I immediately call my husband and tell him the Apostilles are done. Like a typical male, rather than being excited he says, "you still have to mail them in." I was not going to let him burst my bubble so I said "I'll call you when I get home".

We have one last piece of paperwork to do and that is the dossier cover letter. Thankfully nothing needs to be done for this document. I just need to print it out. After that is done, write out some checks and send the documents to our adoption agency.

Once the adoption agency receives them, they are sent to the embassy in Washington for approval. This can take up to a month but has been done in as little as 3 days. After Washington it gets sent to the embassy overseas. Once the embassy overseas receives it and approves it, we just wait for the "Letter of Invitation to Travel".
(Somewhere in between both agencies, all the documents need to be translated into Russian). I don't have to worry about this because they have someone to do this.

We are still not out of the woods yet but I now pray that both embassies find nothing wrong with the paperwork.
