The "Joys" of Children

I have to say, it is kind of a drag in someway's when my nieces are here, and I don't mean that quite as mean as it might sound, but everyone knows I am not a kid person, and I just don't "do" children.

I do like my nieces after my own fashion and in my own way get along with them, but I do have set boundaries when it comes to them. I am not the sort to get all gaga about them. One of them is 4 years old and the other almost a year, and I virtually never held either one when they were babies, had no inclination to do so, and I don't baby sit. And obviously my nieces are use to me, since they haven't known me to be any other way, so it doesn't bother them at all. I am not mean to them, I just don't get all touchy feely

But there are just some things about kids that just freak me out it is like I think babies do have coodies. For one thing, I hate having to take a shower after they have been bathed, I just imagine all these icky things they could have done in the bathtub, and I absolutely will not take a bath after a child has been in the bath tub. And I cannot stand to be around children while they are eating, it just completely grosses me out.

Also when I do the laundry I cannot wash my clothes with their clothes.

    I can understand. I did a really long observation in a kindergarten class last semester and those kids turned my stomach. They are always digging in their noses and picking around their rear ends. Yuck! And, sadly, many were somewhat neglected in that they smelled really bad- I mean beyond that nice kind of grubby smell kids get when they've been digging in dirt or running around. I kind of like that smell. Some smell of filth and some of filth mixed with smoke and animals. However, I've found that fifth graders smell much worse. Whenever I have to be in a fifth grade class for very long I get a sick headache. Really, when you come down to it, a room full of kids of any age stink.

    I am a little OCD but I also cannot stand children. I hate when other people take thier kids out in public, becasue I don't want to be around them. They annoy me.

    I am expecting a child and am an elementary teacher and despite this fact, I can sympathize with you. Kids can be monsters and very unworthwhile. They say it is different when they are your own. I have many nieces and nephews and I adore some and have no interest in others. Maybe you prefer boys.

    I do not think so, I like my neices about as much as it would be possible for me to like a child, but when it comes to any child I have my bounderies. I never got along with my cousin when he was younger. It is kind of funny, becasue my neices are about the only kids I would consider cute, most other people's kids, I just think eww when I see them, and I cliam I just think they are cute because they are related to me, but my sister tries to say that they are just unaturally cute, and even if they weren't hers and I saw them, I would at least admit they were not as ugly as most children are.
