Not Quite the Kitchen Sink

I had a little adventure or misadventure today. I finally was able to take my shower. I didn't want to do it right now right after both the kids had been bathed, and I was kind of hoping that my sister would shower either last night or this morning, because I would not feel as bad going in right after her, but no such luck as that. But it had to get done and I had the house to myself at noon for an hour because everyone else went to take the kids to a kiddy amusement park and I stayed home for some peace and to get some things done. Wash all my clothes that I needed to pack, and get a shower.

Well in many ways I am very tomboyish, and VERY low maintenance. I am content with how I look and don't put much effort into it, because I am not out to impress anyone, so truth is I virtually never shave because it is a hassle and I don't really benefit from doing it, I rarely go out in public, and when I do I don't care what the public thinks of me, but there are occasions, literally like once or twice a year when I decide to do so purely for myself and I usually always do right before going on vacation. I thought I would try to do it whiles in the shower which proved to be difficult and awkward, and because I do have hair that comes down past my waist, it kept getting in the way, and I felt like I was just wasting the water from the shower so I decided to instead to do it at the sink, which I have done become on occasion.

For a while now the wall just behind the sink has been all rotted because water gets back there, and it has been needing to be fixed eventually, plus now with my niece here, when she has to use it, she leans against it to reach the faucets to turn them on and off, so it was like the straw that broke the camels back. I was in the middle of shaving and my leg was propped up against the rim of the sink when all of the sudden there was a crack and the sink just fell out from under me, off the wall and onto the floor.

I was just standing there in shock looking down like OMG I broke the sink. After that one of the first things I did was call my boyfriend to tell him about it, because that is just the sort of thing he would expect me of all people to do. But he wasn't available so I am going to have to text him about it because he will be amused.

Of course if he was here, he probably would have it fixed already by now, as it is someone is going to come out and fix it on Friday.

Very amusing! My husband would have reacted the same way as your boyfriend.

I once was working with a student who needed to be restrained and she broke the sink right of the wall. It was very funny and we both laughed when I should have been wicked serious.

I always tease my boyfrined that we were obviously meant to be together becasue I am really good at breaking things, and he is really good at fixing them.

Wait, most sinks are not attached to walls. They are fixed in a cabinet. And even if they are fixed to walls they would be fixed to a wall stud. This sounds like it was fixed to sheetrock. Was it fixed to sheetrock?

Well my bathroom sink is mounted on the wall, it is not a cabinet, and I guess what happend was that the bracket that it was mounted on rotted out becasue of the water damage.

Oh, thanks. You should have any leaking water fixed as soon as possible. Water causes a tremendous amount of damage.

It isn't really leaking, but over a period of time, water would get splashed back there, and slip in the cracks behind the sink, and then just sit there.
