Ruth's Triumph (Short Pt 3)

9/10. Jane Austen Lives / Shadow Over Fairborn

Upon my return from the doctor's I clean up a mess made by one of our other cats--Shadow. She was named by my daughter since she is all black and I have always suspected Sandy of trying to win Brownie points with me over the christening.

I take about a two hour nap and awake to thoughts of skipping lunch and taking advantage of the windfall provided by Ruth for Bookery shopping.

I get some fuel on the way at last so I know just how much money I can spend--roughly $20 and I make getting the latest SHadow reprint voume (#28) a priority reprinting two stories from 1933--Master of Daeth and 1938--The Rackets King. ANy of the 24 stories that were published in 1938 is a good read and well represnets the Shadow at the peak of his adventurous career. Each issue is a miracle in this day and age as I suspect what was exciting in the 1930s is ho-hum in today's reading market.

To the horror of some and delight of others Marvel comics has been doing a comics adaptation of Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austen and I have been enjoying it immensely. My only objection is the covers they use motifing Cosmopolitan otherwise the series is most respectable towards Austen. Recommended with a clean conscience.

I return home with my treasures and await Ruth and lunch.

Short entry tonight as frankly it is late and I am tired but I'll be more detailed tomorrow. I promise.

I love your information on your cats. I have a few, too. They are so personable. OK, awaiting the next part of this adventure, I'll stop for lunch also.

Pride and Prejudice does seem like a bit of an odd choice for Marvel to do as a comic. Now I may have to check it out myself just to see what it is like:D Love, Meg

Comic book version of Pride and Prejudice? Don't say it too loud or people will read that in lieu of the novel.

I actually finally read the novel because the first two issues got me interested (plus I collect the Jane Austen mysteries by Stephanie Barron).
