I was looking to try and find a couple of the Jane Austen books that I haven't read, and don't have for the Jane Austen book club, but they didn't have any of the ones I was looking for, but in the meantime, I got these other books instead.

Burmese Days ~ George Orwell

Song of Solomon ~ Toni Morrison

The Firey Cross ~ Diana Gabaldon

Rebecca ~ Daphne du Maurier (ok, I have no idea why I wanted this book. I knew I had it in my head that I wanted to get it, but it wasn't on my list, and so I cannot recall why I had it in my head)

I have tried (many many years ago to read Rebecca but never succeeded and the movie remains unwatched as well. Can't say why but I suspect it was disappointment with The Birds by du Maurier--having thought it would be a really neat horror story--all young adolescence falling for Hollywood hype and adaptations from novelette to movie (based on previwes). Never saw the Birds til a few years later. Rebecca will probably never be read now.

DM, repeat after me: I am a book addict, I am a book addict, I am a book addict...

    Guess where I'm going tomorrow

Rebecca isn't bad, though I haven't read any of the others. I've heard Toni Morrison is good.

I really enjoyed Rebecca, although that was many, many years ago. The movie is good, too.

Rebecca is amazing! Since reading it, I have been trying to read all of du Mauriers books, they are just fantastic.

I don't really enjoy Toni Morrison personally...

I haven't yet read any Morrison but it seems there is something about the kinds of books she writes that appeals to me, as I just picked up a book by her the other day becasue it sounded interesting, and at the time it totally slipped my mind that she wrote a couple of other books I had as well.
