Nostalgia Under Glass

Rate this Entry
I met an old friend last night. We talked of old things and old people, now. Their faces were young in my mind, though I'm sure that they are not now what saw in my mind's eye yesterday.

Our past lives on in stories -- old faces on new tales.

Who are they now? Lisa, Will, John, Karen -- snapshots in time. Facebook statuses. Oral histories. Friends now unknown to me.

Until next year, my old friend, when again have our annual dinner to catch up on our ever-retreating circle! Our stories, like a magnifying glass, make large the specks of memory under the lens.

Our stories are our lives. That is why we tell stories.
