Anyway to the poin so far it is brilliant, sure Ive been cooking and then came on here so havent had that much of a chance to play with it. But I now have a copy of the three muscateers , bleak house, great expectations war and peace AND the monte county cristo to dip into whenever I want and I can take the copies that Ive had since chrismas back to the library , as I have never ad a chancce to read them soo i now have space again on my library card.
AND this means I can finally do the litnet challenge properly AND I have the complet wors of shakespear in a easily accesoble format.

Can you download books from lit net library? Are electronic books in the public domain downloable to it? How does it work Nightie? Sounds really neat. Is it about the size of a paperback? Can you adjust the font size? Is that similar to waht Amazon advertises as Kindle?

Oh good luck on the interview.

Yeah, is it like Kindle? I got one of them Apple phones and it has an "app" called Eucalyptus, where I can get anything available from the public domain library. I have David Copperfield on it but that's it. Your library card thanks you!

Its smaller and lighter than the kindle on account of th fact it has no keyboard and no automatic wireless thing that llinks directly to the amazon store. The plus side about the lack of wireless is I think it means its flight friendly and can be use on a plane, of course we will see what the flight ccrewe say when I get on a plane but yes. You can ajust the font size but there are only 3 settings. That is more than enough for me so far, my mum preffers middle, I can mangae the small size, but the middle is good, the big is a bit too big for me but I think it would be ok.
It is amazingly paper like, I had to use a book light last night when I was reading in bed though because of the no backlight thing, whihc is what makes it paper like and no glare but there is case with built in lighting I might concider getting.
In theory yes you can download any public domain book, the problem is the formatting. It comes with 100 free classics. But the issue with the ones that are availabe everywhere is the formatting. I think I am going to hve to format the books myself to get them on to the ereader. On the otyher hand the litnet does have a CD available of 268 titles for $11 which is approx 4.6 cents a books and they are already in pdf form. ( no sure about size formating though, i think they may have been meant for a sdmaller screen which might create issues. we shall see.

The thing is once its been created anyone can use it, so say it takes me 5 or so hours a boo to format ( This is a veryoutside estoimatipn probs no more than an hour ) then I can have it and create a site where people can downlaod them for soemthing like 5 cents a book. indivdually it means you have a greater range of choice because all the bulk offers seem to be the same books over and over again.

Oh on the air plane thing Nightie, I think they'll make you shut that off too. I was shocked when they told me I had to shut off my cassette player. When they say all electronic devices, they mean all. Frankly I think it's bogus, but I guess there are possibilities, remote as they may be.

It sounds cool. So the format it uses is PDF? How do you load it in, through a computer connection?

    Congrats, Night!

For those who are interested in ereaders, have you seen the Nintendo DS Light's 100 Classic s?

    http://www.amazon.co.uk/100-Classic-...7485917&sr=8-1

I am (re)reading some of these classics. Nintendo is very easy to carry around. It is a temporary solution to one's ereading problems.

Enjoy Night! I don't know yet if I'm ready to switch to e-books. I kind of like the traditional ones. Something about the way they smell and the feel of the paper between my fingers:D

Cassttes have radio capabilities? I'm not aware. I think all electronic devices project electronic waves and that in theory might interfere with the electronic airplane controls. But the range of those waves is probably inches. I really don't know why force you to shut them. And if in theory they can interfere, why do they only make you shut them off during take off and landing? I don't know if it makes sense. I should ask one of the electronic engineers I work with. If I remember I'll get back here and tell you.

oh yiou are talking only abput take off and landing.. yes I am usually gathering my wutss and settling down in those two time periods so I rearely read then. pluss I looked at flights today and for some bizzare reason the flight will be 13 and a half hours long *sigh*
