totally pointless bit of whimsy...

I have a dilemma. Someone very kindly gave me a jar of bath pearls for my graduation. I want to take a bath - but the thing is, I haven't taken a bath in YEARS, and I'm afraid that just, um, "reclining" in water will make me dead bored. I suppose I could take my iPod speakers, but I think the allure of scribbling down notes from Landon's "Building Great Sentences" would reduce me to using my finger to scrape notes on the wall through the steam bubbles. I've also heard that people read books while they're taking a bath, but the idea of me reading Les Miserables whilst soaking in vanilla noir scented bathwater I find faintly ridiculous.

Moral of the story: Baths are for decidedly NOT literary types.

I have no idea what bath pearls are, but I woldn't take anything electrical to the bath. You might drop it in the water and ruin it. When i took baths, I liked to just take a book.

Baths are certainly for literary types. Light some candles, grab a book of poetry or don't, lie back in the water and relax. Let your mind wander. If you can, open a window. It's especially good if it's raining outside.
Someone once told me that people who get bored when they're alone are in bad company. I'm sure you can be good company Andave_ya

I agree with all of the above take a book wih you it is the best thing. Leave the IPOD speakers will away from the water if you take them in there wouldn't want to get more than you bargined for.

I love taking a book in the bath. As long as it's not a nice, new book, because then it gets covered in soggy finger prints and the edges get all soggy, but that's because I'm a clutz. My issue with the bath tub is the fact that you're reclining in water filled with your own scummy filth. Yummy. Shower afterward.

I had my first bath in about six years there a few weeks ago. I enjoyed it, but i kind of felt stupid. I think because i'm so use to being on the go all the time i just couldnt relax. And i didnt feel clean after so ended up having a shower to wash the gunk out of my hair and of my body.
However baths can be relaxing. I remember years ago i just couldnt get out of them because i loved the relaxation.

I had the same problem with baths. I even wrote about in on another board. I liked the idea of relaxing in a bath but I'm not good at relaxing and used to get in and wonder what to do next. I've gotten better at it, I take a book or magazine and put on some music but even now I can't sit for very long.

I only take the occasional bath; the tub in my house is not conducive to bath-taking. I also prefer them in winter so that I can take a very hot bath. Reading in the tub is fun. Limit yourself to 20 or 30 minutes if you're just not sure about it.

When I a kid I took a Dick Tracy comic in with me fo a abth and it did not end well. I blame television for this as I'm sure I saw guys reading newspapers in the tub. I'm still looking for a new copy of that issue. There is a moral in there somewhere.
