So, I'm here. Well, I've been here at my ranch since last Friday, and life is SOOOOO much better here than the real world. I've worked my *** into the ground since I got here, but I can't recall being this satisfied with my life in a while. I got here around eight thirty last Friday morning, ate breakfast at nine, and by nine fifteen Dickey had me raking leaves from around the rec hall and the lodge. We didn't do much with the herd until Sunday, but we'll get plenty of practice. We run them down from the upper pasture (or from Goat Mountain) every morning, halter and tie up, then put feed bags on all one hundred thirty some horses. We spent all day last Tuesday brushing the herd (there's nine of us) and checking for ticks, then we had to run them up Goat Mountain which is more of a large cliff than a mountain. I was assigned a horse called Pepto, who was trained by Townsend, the oldest Prince child and an amazing trainer. Pepto is a working horse- he wheels, cross-steps, neck reins, etc etc, and I'm rather glad because he is not a trail horse at all. This is his first summer actually being used on rides, so he generally has no clue what is going on and it makes for an exciting ride. He isn't crazy and he doesn't spook easily, though he wasn't entirely sure to make of a herd of deer that jumped up in front of us a few days back. He also wasn't too sure about the cattle we rode by yesterday either. I was leading the ride, loping through this little valley on a trail called The Meadows, looking behind me to make sure the rest of everybody was keeping up, when Pepto decided to make his own trail- the opposite direction I was leaning. He also decided to lope right through a roll of unwraveled barbwire. I expected him to get all caught up in it and fall down and cut the hell out of himself, but he was all right. He's a great horse, just its going to take me a while to get used to him.
And we're having a black tie party tonight, so I'm going to be a hung-over sack of **** tomorrow. Oh well. That's life.Hope yall are doing all right!
PS- Pepto got his name because when he was born, he had diarrhea so Townsend gave him Pepto-Bismol.

Hope yall are doing all right!
