So I Lied Part II

OK, OK, I know I said I wouldn't be posting anymore about the adoption but many of you were disappointed that I wasn't going to document it anymore, so I changed my mind. It's a woman's perogative to change her mind isn't it ?
Last time I mentioned that my A-Hole primary doctor wouldn't obtain a letter for me (which she hasn't) so I dropped her as my doctor. I switched to my husband's doctor who is more than willing to help us out.
Now to the current saga. We are in the home stretch of gathering all required documents to be submitted to the adoption agency. All the documents have to be less than 4 months old at time of submission. So I sat down yesterday and reviewed all dates on the paperwork that has been completed so far and realized that some will have to be redone because we will not meet the end of June deadline that we gave ourselves. What this means is I have to contact the Home Study Agency and tell them I need certain documents redone to reflect a more current date. This sucks because I will have to pay for this rework but it's something that has to be done.
Once we finish gathering all the documents, we send it to our Adoption Agency for review. If all OK, we can then proceed to get them notarized and apostilled. Luckily I have a friend who is a Notary so she does this for me at no charge. Aren’t good friends great? Once that is done we send all the documents back to the Adoption Agency and then they get sent off to the Embassy in Washington and from there to the Embassy overseas. It then becomes a waiting game to receive the anticipated Letter to Travel. This can take between 2 – 3 months which will put us into October. I should mention that there have been instances where the Embassy has reviewed and approved documents in Washington in as little as a week so I am hoping ours goes through quickly.
What we won’t know at this point is the following:
• What province we will go to
• Will we do this in one trip or two
• Age and sex of child
Our coordinator told me that we will know about 1 – 2 months ahead of time which province we will go to which will then determine if we take one or two trips. As far as the age and sex of the child I am pretty sure we won’t find that out until we get to said destination. Once we are there it can take up to 6 weeks to finalize everything. When we get there, there will be “X” amount of children to choose from ( god, I hate how that sounds but don’t know how else to word it) and once we decide on a child we spend 2 weeks bonding with him/her. This process cannot be waived. From there we then have to wait for a court date for permission to adopt said child. This can take a few weeks. Our first thought was we will spend the entire time there but now I am thinking maybe we should split it into 2 trips. This way we can come home and buy the things we will need because by then we will know age and sex of child. I guess we’ll just have to wait and see.
Now on to the child’s room. We have 1 ¼ walls left of wallpaper to take off. It’s taking a long time because I am not working on it every day plus certain parts of the wall has been easier to take off the paper than other parts, go figure!!. Then we’ll have to wipe down the walls and start priming and painting. We’ll also have to take up the carpeting and put flooring down. Our first choice was laminate flooring since it is less expensive than hardwood flooring but my husband’s Uncle is telling us hardwood is better. We’ll price out both and then make a decision.
Sorry if this is too long of an entry but I was trying to make it as short as possible.
