All They Say You Should Never Do

They say
you shouldn’t
run with knives
but I question this
what is the purpose
of life
when you’re not
tempting death
add more salt
to the eye
perhaps I will
go blind
but it was still
worth the try
now I prefer
a nice clean cut
straight into the bone
but I see
you are squeamish
yet
so just a shave
until you learn
how to live through
the pain
it is comfort
that makes us
soft
burn down the
bridges
and jump across
if you don’t make it
at least you will know
for a split second
you were more alive
than half the world
will ever show
because
when you spend
your life
avoiding death
you’re dead
already
just don’t know
it yet
so run when
it’s wet
and dive
into the shallow
end!
