My Last Blog on Road to Adoption

Rate this Entry
When I first started blogging about our journey to adoption I thought it would be nice to document the trials and tribulations of what a couple has to go through. I thought maybe if anyone out there is thinking about adopting this blog would give them some idea of what is involved. I never expected that some of you would go on this ride with my husband and me. What I mean is, some of you have been following our journey faithfully (you know who you are) and always gave me words of encouragement when things went astray or if something good happened. I want to thank you all for that, it means a lot to me but I have decided not to blog about this anymore for personal reasons. If you are still interested in following my journey you could always PM me and I would be more than happy to give you an update. So as of today, here is my last update.

Yesterday, my husband and I had to go get a certified copy of our marriage license in the state we were married in. When we did our home study a county certified marriage license was acceptable but for our dossier it has to be state certified and apostilled. We arrived at the office and had to fill out an application. Then we had to wait about an hour for the license. I guess we were lucky yesterday because we were told it’s normally a 2 hour wait. It ended up taking only 45 minutes so that was good. After that we had to go get it apostilled which was a few blocks away from where we got the marriage license. Another application to fill out and the marriage license with the apostille seal will be mailed to us early next week. We could have done this thru the mail but that would have taken about 3 weeks to get. We can now cross this off our list of things to do. We have a few more documents to pull together and we then need to get them notarized and apostilled. I did encounter another stumbling block on the medical forms that needs to be done. One of the documents that is needed for the dossier is a copy of your doctor’s medical license. I received this from my doctor however it must be valid for 1 year + 4 months at time of submitting the dossier. My doctor’s license expires February 2010 so she needs to obtain a letter from the State Medical board indicating that she is in good standing and will have no problem in renewing her license. Hopefully this will not be a problem.

So that pretty much brings everything up to date. Once again thank you all for your thoughts and prayers!!!

I have to say that I'm sorry to hear that this will be the last blog about this amazing journey you and your family have been on. But, I respect your decesion. I'm glad things are moving along and that you are getting closer all the time. Sometimes I think about that little baby that's over there right now just waiting for you and that is your child even though you haven't been able to hold him/her yet. It brings tears to my eyes. Best wishes to you.

I'm quite sad to no longer be reading about this, but I understand, and I wish you all the best and hope everything goes in stride and according to plan.
