More Than A Dream

Silly little poem.
More Than A Dream
Build me a tower
Lavish with beauty;
Leave me to live there -
You keep the key.
Buy me a thousand
Silver-white horses
That I may ride
Whenever I please.
Fetch me the stars
You say shine in my eyes,
The warmth of the sun
You feel in my smile -
Show me you love me,
Help me to believe,
That it's more than just words and
More than a dream.
Build me a longship
From legends of old,
Faster than sea winds
And made from pure gold.
Buy me an island
With trees that sing soft,
Of the secrets it holds
In its glowing white sands.
Fetch me the stars
You say shine in my eyes,
The warmth of the sun
You feel in my smile -
Show me you love me,
Help me to believe
That it's more than just words and
More than a dream.
"Le prix d'Amour, c'est seulement Amour.
Il faut aimer si l'on veut être aimé."*
Don't leave, I have grown now
You've helped me to see
That all that I want
Is not what I need.
Now of all those dreams
Coated in youth
There is one thing I need
And that one thing is you.
I will fetch you the stars
That you brought to my eyes,
Return all the warmth
I feel when you smile -
Show you I love you,
Help you to believe
That to love is to give love, it's much
More than just dreams.
To love is to love, so much
More than just dreams.
*Honoré d'Urfé, La Sylvanire ou la Morte-vive, fable bocagère, acte I, scène I
"The price of Love, is simply Love.... One must love if one wants to be loved."
