Partner Bob at AAA likes to bring DVDs in on the weekend and we try to watch movies around the never ending tow and lock requests from members. Sometimes if the interruptions are more then usually numerous he'll let me take a movie home.

Pale Rider was the winner last weekend with Clint Eastwood. I got the gist of it during the shift but I was more interested in 3:10 to Yuma with Russell Crowe and Christian Bales. Absolutely loved it and was totally surprised by the ending but thinking it over this was the way it had to be. Once I saw it was based on an Elmore Leonard story all questions about the ending were answered.

When I financially recover in the misty distant future definitely going to buy this one for a keeper. I tend to have TV series in my collections with only a very few select movies. There is a short list of movies still to buy--Captain Horatio Hornblower (Gregory Peck), Double Indemity (Fred Macmurray), Maltese Falcon (dislike the book love the Bogart version) even though I like Hammett's work though The Thin Man is a chore to get thru. Corvette Summer as the guiltiest junk movie of them all but Annie Potts steals the movie. Pollyanna from Disney, the Davy Crockett series, and Dr. Syn from Disney. Missing two Bond movies-On Her Majesty's Secret service and the latest. All things in their due time. I am at least a patient man when it comes to collecting. It took almost 40 years to track down all the Allan Quatermain stories from Haggard.

As to the Avengers I've succeeded in only needing 111 out of 503 so I am somewhat pleased with the progress and they are very obtainable if the hunt is suspended for now until things ease up.

In some ways I should thank IRS in forcing the debt issue. At my age the years fly by and at the end of the tunnel I shall have that major burden lifted. I am very very glad my interest in politics is zero because I could have been like my grand-father who tended to write letters to the White House and get noticed or so I once heard.

I think I am pretty much out of my depression--just waiting for that invite to emigrate to Canada from Logos--darn NOW we seem to need a passport and I have this feeling I'll never be allowed one now. Sigh. The Canadian side of Niagara Falls is the best view. Sigh

Those are good movies Rich. Pale Rider is a minor classic. I prefer the book The maltese Falcon over the movie, though both are excellent. Actually the movie follows the book to a Tee. I'm surprised you didn't like the book. It's a good thing your interest in politics is zero or this tax thing might have really blew you up. It would have blown me up. But Rich, a thought just occured to me. With your heart issue that came up, try not to let the stress get to you. I hope you have a stess outlet. I'm concerned.

The movie list that you want to collect someday sounds good; the only item I'd add to that would be the David Carradine Kung Fu TV series from the 70's. Now THERE was epic tv ... or so I thought. I got the re-runs growing up, mind you. But I'd LOVE to own the series, honest!
