Back on Mars the sun shines bright,

Bright as a stellar object, like it has done for millions of years. It's not quite as bright as on earth, somehow though, it feels more enjoyable. It's home, and at home the sun is always brighter. Even though the city is in ruins, the palace is burning and the death lay in the street, it is still home.
It was an unexpected attack, a surprise to the not quite all knowing technology-crazed Martians. Their king away on a field trip, fortunate or he would be quite dead with the rest of them. A single enemy lies on the fields of war, his dying breath in a foreign land, far from his home, fallen to a humble shop owner's Giant Miniature Pocket Knife. His eyes staring up to the stars, before a boot crushes his skull in rage. The King has returned.
The guinea pigs will pay for what they did, all of them, and not a turnip shall rest before their species is wiped from existence. Such betrayal cannot go unpunished, a near genocide not heard of since the previous one a few milliseconds before, somewhere far away in the infinite universe. A millisecond, it might as well have been eternity, for even if it takes that long, Mars will return to the stars and have its revenge. For now, the infinite universe waits patiently for the destroyers to come.
