Red-Headed

Quick luminescence in the sky above
The sudden incandescent flashbulb snap
Competing with yellow sodium lamps
Reflecting in still rainwater puddles
Making me think of strange parallel worlds.
The sound of thunder fascinates me so!
I can almost sense the 'night electric'
And the drive primeval in my body
With a tingling of my spine presaging
More adventures in locales exotic.
What angers sky gods I have no notion
But I feel so much more alive tonight.
A rendezvous in the rainy city:
That microcosm of bright urban lights
Mirrored in the macrocosmic heavens
Augers lightning later in my soul
And delights unknown that lie still ahead.
