Halls of the Dark Muse

I hate my class and it hasn't even started yet

The new quarter hasen't even quite started yet and I already hate one of my classess. I was just reading the syllabus for it and one of the things we have to do for the class is interview three people of three different age groups. A child from 10-15 years old, an adult, which I think was like 25-50 and a senior 65+

First of all I have interveiwing people for obvious reasons. I don't like interacting with people, I don't want to have to get to know anyone and pry into thier bussiness by asking a bunch of lame questions. I don't want to deal with anyone.

And the teacher says they cannot be related to us. What the hell? Of couse I was planning on only dealing with people I was related to becasue for one......I don't know anyone else and I don't want to get to know anyone new.

I have a couple of friends I can haress for the adult catagory but where am I going to find some brat and an old person to talk to?

I don't want to talk to some bratty little kid or some old person who I don't know.

It is online class, I should just make it up. The teacher would never know. I know that is awuful of me, but it would be sheer torture if I acutally had to interview someone.

That's what I did, Muse! I vaguely remember an assignment similar to yours . . . and in my opinion, making up something like this isn't that big a deal. Once I knew a kid who did a book report on a book that didn't exist. As long as you aren't lying on a resume or something serious, once can't hurt.

Why don't you go to the forums and ask people of different ages to complete interview questions? That way you'll do the assignment, but it doesn't have to be face-to-face.

But a word of reassurance...People really like to answer questions, especially when sharing their opinions. They won't feel you are intruding, they will feel honored. The interviews could be enlightening - whenever you connect to another human being you are creating a connection which will ultimately benefit both you and the person you interview. If you decided to do it, you could even include their picture which would be above and beyond the assignment's requirement. I bet if you asked there would be many people willing to help you out.

I'm new here, so I don't know anything about you. What's your major?

I thought of using forum boards to do it, but I am not sure how easy it would be to find a someone between 10-15 on a forum and I do not think I know anyone who could fit the senior catagory either.

LOL I also thought of just asking my grandmother but then making up a fake name and pretending I asked someone who wasn't related to me.

I am a Liberal Studies Major which is pretty much a hodgepodge of everything. A little bit of every subject.

I can act like a ten year old if you like. It's not that big a leap for me.

Jam's thought was the first thing that came into my mind too. You can interview me if it's not too too personal. What's it on?

Until the class actually starts I will not know exactly what the interview will entail but I do not think it will be anything of a really personal nature. The class is called Wellness in Leisure, it is a recreation class that I am required to take.

Oh DM you're such a wimp. Suck it up and go interview some people - ask at a local school and a local retirement home. It won't kill you and you might actually learn something. Isn't that what education is about?

Awwww I would be thrilled to be interviewed by you. I'm 57 so I don't think I fall in the age you need. Personal questions don't bother me that much --I have a very active Drama Queen keeping me alive.

Hehe thank you for the offer. Yes There is someone else I thought I could interview but he falls just out the age bracket as well.

Not all kids are brats, some can be highly amusing and surprisingly insightful I can feel your pain though, if you don't like social contact much, this is a pretty harsh assignment.
If you decide to go through with it though, I think you will find that many people are surprisingly receptive to being interviewed.
Aren't you just a little curious about what people would say? I suppose I would be.

I really do not like children or dealing with them. I want no part of kids.

Honestly I have to say considering I do not find the class itself interesting but it is something that I am being forced to take I really don't much care to hear what anyone has to say about it. Perhaps if it was something I was at least somewhat interested in I might have a slight bit of currisoty. But as it stands I just view it as something I am going to have to grind through in one form or another.
