Black and White
Frame me in black and white
I wish to appear as a tattered curtain,
pale; luminescent; drifting softly,
always downward.
Frame me in black and white
with soft contrasts,
a haunting stare,
feeling some deep meaning,
speaking from the past.
Frame me in black and white
an oval portrait from days long gone,
frozen beyond years,
a waiting ghost
with a wisp of a smile.
Frame me in black and white
to be an old house with dark windows
now appearing lost; a bridge;
a gateway now seeming
forgotten to time,
something not quite real.
Frame me in black and white
where a wilted flower is internalized,
everything seems some how reminiscent,
an abandoned bench twice as lonely.
Frame me in black and white
to fade slowly; start to yellow,
with color abstracted
everything is romanticized;
not more beautiful,
but with more feeling.
That is what I want
a soul which will call from the grave
even while I am standing
right here.
